Demand Response
Demand Response solutions enable clients to receive significant financial incentives for agreeing to curtail power consumption when the grid is under extreme stress. In response to shortages of delivery capacity, utilities are increasingly seeking customers able and willing to voluntarily reduce their usage during peak usage periods. If some customers can reduce their usage upon request, the utilities will be better able to meet peak demand or avoid "brownout" conditions. This solution also lessens the need to develop new power generation facilities and the associated environmental impact they bring to local communities.
LPB clients who meet certain annual electricity consumption thresholds, have (or are willing to install) interval data recorders (IDRs) and who can agree to significantly reduce or turn off power for a brief period of time are eligible for consideration.
The likelihood of being asked to reduce or shut off power is very low, described by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) as a "1 in 10 year event." Demand Response solutions are extremely appealing to clients who have installed, or are considering installing, back-up generation.
The experts at LPB can help you determine if you are a good fit and if so, to enroll in various Demand Response programs offered by numerous utilities.
